The talking point of the weekend was probably Man City's balloon assisted exit from the FA Cup, which I have covered in a previous article (click here to view).
On the subject of hot air, it has gone a little bit quiet up the road this week after the hysteria surrounding the Messiah's return.
A bore draw against Bolton, followed by a 3-0 thumping against Arsenal (with the prospect of another one again at the Emirates this week) have dampened the spirits of some who saw KK's return as the start of something new.
Many Newcastle supporters have shown a lot more sense and have been as embarrassed by the media attention as other club's fans have been sickened by it. I had an excellent article forwarded to me this week that makes a lot of sense (click here to read).
At the moment, with the transfer window coming to a close, rumour is rife. Sometimes though, these rumours might just have a little bit of truth in them.
The latest, however, does affect the Boro and our friends up the road. They concern Jonathan Woodgate.
Firstly, why was Woody not involved at Blackburn? Was he injured or, as rumours suggest, was he not prepared to travel as a substitute?
Then follows Gareth's press conference inference that we are stronger in some positions than we are in others. Twenty four hours later, Woody is given permission to talk to Spurs and then to Newcastle. He leaves Spurs and it then looks like Kev is going to get his man.
Twenty-four hours later, a sorrowful KK states that it looks like he is not going to get his man, that it looks like Woody is going somewhere else.
With the promise of "unlimited cash", KK now looks woeful as he is possibly going to lose out on the man he wanted.
Well what went wrong? A million and one things perhaps.
Maybe, as stories suggest, the Newcastle owner, who is still believed to be trying to sell the club, is not as free with his cash as previously suggested. This week's events will tell if that is true.
Now we all know that stories like these are sometimes made up in the pubs and then spread like wildfire. One thing is for sure however: The fans deserve better.
In the last week we have heard Spurs' Pascal Chimbonda, not for the first time, stuffing the supporters and being prepared to move for as much money as he can get. In fairness though, at least he was honest about it.
Talking about honesty, the "Big Three" in the north-east all have managers who wear their hearts on their sleeves and either say outright, or don't make a brilliant job of hiding, their true feelings.
Likewise, there are fans who deserve loyalty and success from those they follow.
Maybe, just maybe, some of these rumours are true and once again we, the fans, are losing out.
